Frequently Asked Questions
What is the AC62 door controller?
The AC62 is a 16 door access controller that allows customers to seamlessly access control 16 doors on one controller and manage everything from Verkada Command, a simplified cloud-based hub. Customers can utilize the AC62 to connect up 16 hardwired doors with door readers, door strikes, mag locks or other door hardware. In addition to natively connecting with Verkada’s AD32 door reader, the AC62 also integrates with 3rd party readers that utilize the Wiegand communication interface. This includes readers from HID and others.
What is the AC62 FAI Connection?
The AC62 also includes a Fire Alarm Interface (FAI). The FAI on the AC62 can power down door locks when a signal from a Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP) is received. In other words, the AC62 will de-energize powered locks in case of the fire emergency to unlock fail safe doors. The most common use case is to remove power from maglocks when a fire alarm occurs, allowing for faster egress and firefighter access.
What hardware features does the AC62 offer?
The Verkada AC62 offers simplified access hardware from installation to daily use. The AC62 connects to Verkada Command via ethernet connection – no servers, thick or thin clients required. At the same time, intentional design helps ensure a simple and safe install – including detachable wiring terminals, a lightweight wall mount plate and a wiring annotation diagram.
Why does the AC62 have detachable wiring terminals?
The AC62’s detachable wiring terminals allow for fast and simplified installation, and the elegant mounting bracket design allows installers to size and place the unit effortlessly. Lastly, as a unified 16 door controller, the AC62 minimizes the hardware footprint of access control systems, allowing for more space conscious deployments.
